Hey guys, its been 4 years since last i was here, i originally subscribed back in 2003 and my celica has been sitting in my drive way for 6 years and i plan to work on it this summer, anyway just saying hi to the old timers and new faces.

thanks guys, right now i just want to get it going nothing fancy,before i parked the car i swap the engine with a 0 miles brand new not rebuilt(made in china)and was fine,the reason i stopped driving it was my kid,so i have been driving my chevy tahoe all this time so its time to put the elephant away lol (good old tahoe) and get the celica going again, still had the same mods as before, hotter cam,msd everything on stock dis, dougthorleys,head ports have been ported and polished, dual springs for valves,tb from a  supra, intake plenum ported and enlarged to the supra tb, etc, and before anyone says anything about how is a waste to turbo the 22re im going to anyway lol, yes i know theres better engines out there, i just want to have fun with it and may be give 100+ horses in the process and no im not going to buy a lc engineering kit, im not rich. the only thing im gonna buy new is the turbo manifold, i hate the tree trunk crappy looking one so ill have to save for a nice one or may be even buy one used,im thinking of making fiber copies of my mitcom kit, the front air dam is fine as is made of some kind of hard rubber so its flexible, but the skirts amd rear balance are made of plastic, the kind of plastic that starts falling apart after 15 years of sun and exposure, i never done it but i will learn.by the way for the new guys my name is Luis, and now i live in san jose california, in the san francisco bay area, just in case anyone is around amd need any help, again thanks guys.

Nothing wrong with turboing the 22R, especially since you already have the work put into it. No sense turning back now

And you're right. All too often some of us (me especially), come on here and immediately tell people to do a motor swap. There's more accomplishment in building a motor and seeing what kind of numbers it puts down. And another thought is that it doesn't matter HOW much hp and torque it makes. It matters HOW much over stock it made. So don't compare a 22re turbo setup to some 2jz guy that upped the stock boost and made 500whp. If you turbo it and make 200hp that's great for a 22re. A YUGE increase.

I'd say for turbo inspiration look to Technogon. He's not on here anymore. But still has the car and tracked it a lot in the old days. Still has the car according to some posts as of 2012. He was making great power with that little engine.

yes, that's exactly my thinking, i mean come on, i love this car and i know even with all the crap i have bolted on and off it probably wont even make 140 horses at the wheels,the torque and handling is what makes this car fun to drive, and as far as fast cars go i have done it already, some of the old timers here might remember i used to have a 68 fastback mustang with a blown big block 428 cobrajet engine,blower on 2 4 barrels holley demons, no rear seats since it was a big tire set up , fastest pass ever with NO nitrous was 9.07 in the quarter mile..anyway if i could double the hp and torque in the celi i would be happy,anything around 250 to 300 would be amazing, well will see .

This guy is also worth checking out. He's probably put together the nicest 22RTE, but he said if he had to do it again he wouldn't do it to a 22RTE, but still his work is awesome and worth checking out if you plan to go turbo.
