Bay Area Classic Celicas meetup @ Blackhawk Cars N Coffee
« on: May 26, 2017, 05:09:26 pm »
Hi everyone,

I'll be holding the first Bay Area Classic Celicas meetup at the upcoming Blackhawk Cars N Coffee on Sunday, June 4th. I want to bring all Celicas of model years 1971-1985 together for this, and perhaps find even more classic Celica owners at the meet.

We will be meeting at 6:45am at the Carl's Jr off 680 on Crow Canyon Rd, which is just a few minutes away from Blackhawk. That way we can all cruise into the meet together. RVSP in your reply to this post or on Facebook, in this group (make sure you join so you can see the event posting!)

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions! Hope to see you there!

C'mon, it's not that early. :P That time was decided to make sure that we get parking spots in the meet, and so we're not waiting in a huge line to get in, too.

Add me to the list of attendees. This is my third year going to the Coffee and Cars. Getting there at 7am means we can all park together. Also the early arrivals get a free pass for two to the museum. The number of cars has been increasing over the past few months from an average of 800 to now over 1000. If you haven't been to a coffee and cars event it is amazing to see the variety of cars. Anything and everything to see. One of the highlights of getting there early is watching the cars arrive. To see and hear them roll in to me is worth going.

Awesome! So far that's three total. I'm going to reach out to other Celica Facebook groups and see who I can round up. Excited for this weekend! :)

Saturday warmup?:

https://www.radwood.co/

$10 pre-reg, $15 at the gate per car though, so someone's trying to make bank.

Oh my god, that event would be pure A E S T H E T I C. I'd have to really hustle on getting my car ready to go to that, but definitely not a bad place to scope out more people!

Spotted an '85 GTS on the way to lunch today on Arastradero Rd and King Arthur Ct. just north of Foothill Expy.. Not sure if they're on this forum. Either way I stopped and gave 'em a flyer. :)

I went to Radwood today to scope out Celica owners. I didn't see a single one. There was a 4A-GE Starlet that was kinda cool.

Also saw this sweet Celica Supra. :P

The meet is happening tomorrow! See you all there~

Today's meetup was a success!~ silverliftback and nick83 came along. It was a cool little lineup; an 83, 84 and 85. :) Pics below!

There was also a super clean 7M-GTE swapped C-Supra in there, too. Nice fella named Dereck owns it.

That's as far as Celica-esque cars go! No other classic Celicas there unfortunately.

Until next time!

Who invited the fuzz..... what a buzz kill. I mean I don't condone "mustang owner" behavior at a car meet anyways, but the man just makes everyone have to be "good". Like watching over your shoulder 24/7....

WAHAAHT?! Well shoot, you're on the list now for when I have the next one! Make sure you join the Facebook group and message me when you do!

Eh, it wasn't so bad, they're just making sure things are safe. Nothing super bad went down. Although, one of my acquaintances showed up with his LS-swapped RX-7 FD3S and five minutes later was kicked out by the event organizers for revving. :heh:

...was I really up that early this morning?  It seems so long ago...

It was fun to meet up with nick83 and twotone!  nick83's white 83 is in great shape, original everything in the car (even all the bulbs!) and original owner.  twotone and I, well, we'll keep trying.

I'm not a big fan of stupid engine-revving size-compensating blapping about suburban parking lots by "mustang owners", but lots of stuff to see at Cars 'n' Coffee--Dereck's Supra is a peach, for sure.  I may try waking early again in the future, probably not every time though (I needs mah beauty rest).

I talked with the owner of the Delorean at Radwood on Saturday (I biked in and missed twotone by minutes).  His license plate (FM84) is, well, him: he has a couple albums out under that name of New Wave Retro synth-driven pop songs, which go very nicely with an 80s vibe if you're looking for that sort of thing.  Full albums on Youtube, just search FM84. (Behind the Delorean at Radwood is a replica Marty McFly Dream Toyota Truck.  It is my pet weird theory that my silver Celica is the unholy love child (of the Delorean (silver 2-door hatchback, louvers) and the Truck (22RE-W58, J-tin).)
