Last weekend was the first RallyX that I've been to in awhile. I started a month or so ago cleaning up some accident damage from before I bought the Celica and got a bit carried away building a new front crossmember and bumper - this work carried on right up until the night before I raced.
The course was larger than most RallyX's I've been to with a good mix of hardpack and knee-deep volcanic silt (the area was actually wiped clean of trees when Mt. St. Helens blew its top back in the 80's). Before I went, I made a pledge to the rally gods that if I made the podium, I'd shave my beard . . . I'm still a hairy bastard, so that didn't happen, but much fun was had anyway. Modified Rear Wheel Drive was the biggest class with 9 entries, and I placed 5th. I was actually up to 3rd in class after the 3 daylight runs, but after the sun set and the LED lights came on, I lost a bit of time (biggest time loss was when I found the reverse gate in the trans trying to shift into 1st to avoid being stuck

). After being away from racing for so long, not a bad result
The next race will be a mixed surface tarmac/dirt/gravel even toward the end of October. Luckily, there isn't much work that I have to do between now and then - just rebuild the PS pump I toasted and made a better under-car skid plate than the one I have now

I promise, my car is in there somewhere
