I've seen all methods of getting around the inspections.  "Lost plates" used on cars with no paperwork, re-engraving engine ID plates on the block, bribing inspectors, even swapping back to a stock drive train right before the inspection (which is nuts).  There are some track-only cars that get towed in just like every other country out there.  You can modify a car and still work within the framework of the rules though.  Mine will need a re-registration and as long as I run a sports catalytic converter for the inspection and don't lower it 'too much' I should be fine.

I'll have to make a build thread, I have put T3 coil overs on it now, I have a few other T3 suspension parts, a Nardi woody wheel (since I hate the stock steering wheel), Konig 16" rewinds, rolled the lips and dropped it a bit so far.  It rides SO much better, the struts were original and at least two were blown.    I need to take some more pics and make the thread.

The pic is after the coil over install, it had not quite settled yet and my driveway is far from level.

I know some people doing that here in the US.

I’ll be honest- in Portland, one of my cars wouldn’t pass. I changed my address with the government to an area where my uncle’s mother lived (outside smog zone), waited a month, brought a piece of mail to dmv, got my tags. The went back to post office to change my address again. The post office chick thought I was high. I told her “I had a change of heart”. I had that “change of heart” a few times after that. Never had to smog a 1976 260z.

Here in the Bay Area i have heard claims of smog guys who needed only a picture of your last smog sheet and a venmo of cash and they would smog it without you ever visiting the shop. I've never been able to get a hot smog before. I wish I knew the guy who did that.
