What year Celica is this oil pan from?
« on: Oct 21, 2017, 03:07:16 pm »
I really need a new oil pan, but I haven't had much luck finding one. Engine is a 20R, believed to be a Celica, but now in a Spitfire. I have some clearance issues and I really took a hard blow the other night and the oil pan baffle was hitting the crankshaft. No damage but rather noisy. The pan is worn really thin from a decade of hard driving and I feel like I can't really put it back on the car.

What year Celica is this from with a 20R or similar engine? Thanks!

If it’s from a celica, only the 70’-81’ celicas had 20r power. But I’m thinking all 20r’s were the same. As far I know you can swap engines across celica and trucks and the oil pan is the same.

Referred to as the "sought after center sump Celica oil pan" in a foreign ebay from years ago, the right picture, no year given.  It is used by rock crawler trucks for extra clearance for the idler arm. There are 6 or 7 oil pans for the 20R, many are for trucks and seem huge. After an oil change it takes 3 1/2 quarts to fill me up, more than that you hear the crankshaft churning in oil under acceleration, dipstick seems original, I really don't think the oil pan has been modified at all.

This gasket auction shows the correct picture, it says 84-85. That would be a 22RE I think, but that still doesn't seem to get me the right pan.

Thank you for that info.
Still hunting, rolled the dice on a '77 junkyard pan. No picture so odds are low.

For the sake of posterity, here is the end of the tale I hope. The Junkyard pan never materialized. I made a metal skid plate and had it welded. It leaks of course, just a bit.

New plan:

1984-1985 Celica 1210135011 OEM oil pan $256.00 ouch. The drawing looks spot on. This is perhaps also a 2 wheel drive pickup truck pan, but I don't know year or model.

$256 for an oil pan and I sure hope it fits. Maybe I should get another one for a spare. I'm not even sure if I'm joking.

The picture looks correct, but I think the listing might be wrong since it says it's for 84/85 Celica. I believe all of them had front sumps.

From what I'm reading you want an oil plan from a 77~81 Celica with a 20/22r or from a 79~82 Corona with a 20/22r. I'm sure it's pretty much out of stock everywhere, but the part number I'm seeing is 12101-39186.

Can see if these guys have the pan in stock.

The image shows front sump, but I'm sure that's just an incorrect image since the part number and the vehicles listed for that part number is for a center sump.

I just looked up the part number 12101-35011 and what I'm finding is that that's a front sump pan for the Euro Cressidas that got the 22R motor.

I have a slightly bent, though non-leaking, oil pan from my '85 Celica you can have for $20 + shipping
