Another house hits the market long enough for me to do all my usual google scouting, then sells before I can even see it in person.

Wow, that sucks. That can be really annoying.

In other news, I declare my clutch dead. Car has 334,000 km (209,000 miles) on it (original clutch!)

Yesterday I was trying to get going on an incline and while I didn't roll back the car wasn't really moving forward, but the engine was revving. It's been chattering bad lately.

I've been driving it since 2010 by only using the clutch to get going and powershifting through the gears. It started slipping at 265,000 km (165,000 miles). Don't know if the people before me were good with the clutch or not.

So now I figure if I have to do the clutch I may as well get a lighter flywheel and make sure the rear main seal doesn't leak. LC Engineering has a flywheel/clutch/seal kit with repair sleeve, new bolts and stuff. I can probably get it on one of their sales for around $500.

I guess now that I'm doing that I should probably consider repairing the clutches in my diff too. Although, I emailed Weir Performance back in June regarding some solid spacers for my rear wheel bearing and they still haven't replied to me. So I'm not sure they will be a reliable place to order from.

I'm waiting for the clutch to die in my Honda so I can try swapping in a 6spd, the gearing just sucks balls on it.

That sucks, but at least the Celica is relatively easy to change a clutch in. No need to pull CV shafts, pull the engine, etc. Heck, even the bell housing bolts are easier to get to then some of the pickups I've worked on.

Speaking of, since my manual swap is coming up... are the top bell housing bolts easy to get to from the top of the engine bay?

Yes there's quite a bit of room. When I had my engine out last time I used a long 17mm wrench to get the top two out.

If you open the hood you can actually see the top bolts on the transmission. When I worked on a 22re pickup they were harder to get to compared to the car.

My deleted EGR made the one side way easier to get to! If you take the trans mount off and jack the back of the trans up I bet they you can even get a little more room.

As an alternative, I used a 17mm on a swivel attached to a 2ft extension and attacked it from under the car, saves a trip up top when you are underneath the car already. Eat your wheaties before bench pressing the w58.

If you've ever done a 4L60 or even the transfer case GM puts behind it, the W58 is nothing.

There is a coolant pipe that runs behind the head and bolts onto the bottom of the egr plate on back that's slightly in the way, but it's still WAY more access then you get on some cars. I think you want to pull the bolts before you pull the transmission crossmember, but I can't be sure.

I FINALLY REALIZED WHAT LAST ONE LAST 3 YEARS MEANS NOW. It means the thread before last one last 3 years lasted 3 years. Wow, I'm slow with this whole thing. Or really, still new to the forums hahaha.

 glad I could be of assistance........ I think?

The one time this happened to me, I was at my aunt and uncles. I woke up on a Saturday morning and smelled burning wires. I went to let their Great Dane “Goliath” in and he was hold the dead skunk in his mouth. A massive, stanky dog. Worst summer vacation ever.

Yes Mom, lol. It's not the heaviest thing in the world, but the weight is a little awkward when carrying it around.

I just had a look under the hood, the top bell housing bolts are not really that bad to get to! Just need to make sure to have a long tool....
