Realistically at some point we need to be taken out of the equation. Planes have pilots because of the auto pilot breaks, the plane falls out of the sky.

Cars are easier, if the system has a problem the car stops itself and tells all of the other cars around it to go around. Until we can take the fleshy, stupid, dangerous meat bags out of driving cars, autonomous cars are going to be more of an amusement than a real transportation solution.

not sure if you read the update. Apparently Uber disabled some warning systems and the uber driver said she wasn't looking at her phone she was looking at the screen on the center console that is for the warning system. I forget the link, but the TL:DR is that Uber disabled one system in the Volvo and one system in the autonomous system to reduce the freak reactions to the non threatening situations, but resulted in the driver not being warned that there was someone in the road as after the computers logs were scanned it showed that the car knew the person was on the road, but didn't update the Uber driver.

Yeah, I read that Uber had disabled some system, including the auto braking system. Well, that sure was smart.

A police report has come out saying that the driver was watching Hulu on her phone when the accident happened.

Ouch.

Yikes, I bet she'll be battling in courts now. Did the police report say that the drive was updated? From the one I read it said that the system didn't warn the driver.
