Yes, now you too can own that factory look on those pizza cutter wheels. Not only 225/6014, but also some 13’s, there’s also 215/60r14 as well.
Ae86 owners rejoice.

Timely thread.

!st time poster who is in the process of buying an 85 GT-S hatchback in AZ and driving it back to Maryland.  The current owner says the tires are getting close to needing to be replaced.

The car has the stock rims and it looks like the Radial T/A's are the only tire available in 225/60/R14's.  At the price their being offered, a new set would be about $550+ by the time you factor in mounting, balancing, toe-in adjustment, etc.,.

So, I'm thinking of getting a set of these in order to save pennies for any other maintenance or repair items that might pop up:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Solus+TA11&partnum=17TR4TA11&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

Has any had any experience with these tires or offer some advice with respect to alternative tire sizes to the 225/60/R14's?

I appreciate any advice from you guys.

215/70/14 is the size of my snow tires (cooper weathermasters) no problems rubbing (my car is a gts, stock height), and they don't look too goofy.
Depends a lot on personal preference. It's pretty hard to beat the stock alloy rims for looks.

My only concern is that the stock rims are 7" wide and that is the maximum width range on the Kumho Solus TA11.  How goofy looking is "they don't look too goofy"?

She's a beauty! I approve of your color selection  ;)
I don't think width will be an issue, especially with that much sidewall... it's nowhere near the stretch that people sometimes do for aesthetics.
As for looks, it fills the fenders a little more adding ~1/2" of sidewall and ground clearance... personally I kind of like, but it's not everyone's thing.

I'm a bit late here, but if you look, the design rim width is a 6.5" wheel, and the rim width range is 5.5-7", so they fit with no stretch. IMO, a 215 looks really good on a 7" wheel. I'd rather run the Kumho in a 215/70 than the BFG T/A in a 225/60.

Thanks for the input.

I went with the Kumho 215/70/R14's.  significantly cheaper than the Radial T/A 225/60's.
