85' GT is my new daily
« on: Sep 29, 2018, 04:22:52 pm »
Well the clutch started acting up on my truck. Rather than fix it for the moment I decided to bust ass and get the 85' ra64 on the road.
Holy shit this thing is fun!!! I stripped the interior down to a half dash, and two seats. It's like driving a go-kart everywhere! Next steps are a roll bar and suspension work. For the time being I need to figure out some issues such as windows that won't go up. I'm hoping that toyota used the same manual regulators in other models. I can go electric but I prefer manual.

Anyhow... the little turds cleaned up nicely. I think she's on the list of "toys to never get rid of"!!!!! I see to many mentions of regretting selling the kinda rare little beasts.

That's the right attitude!
I've never heard of the celica manual regulator being interchangeable with anything else... not sure if supras even had manual windows?
There are a couple manual regulators for the passenger side on ebay right now... i bet the driver side is even harder to find.

im just afraid that all the drivers side may be to far gone since they'd get the most use. I've found a passenger side electric at a local yard, may just have to go electric since they seem a lot more common.
I've only got a few weeks to figure this problem. The weather is still nice enough to drive windows down here in southern, NM. That's not gonna last for long.... and I work at night. (I see some possible cold drives home in my near future!).

with that aside... I can't believe how strong she runs. 212k on the clock, strong, no smoke, no oil consumption. Breaks are strong with no work. I'm gonna say the $300 is spent buying this thing was a good move
