I am now the proud owner of a 1983 celica fsm as well as the electrical diagram book. the guy also threw in a fsm for an 84 cressida, and a chiltons toyota 70-79 repair and tune up guide. all for 20 bucks

guy was really cool, he said he's owned 3 celicas, and 2 cressidas.

some of it still wont be helpful to me since it is for an 83, but still cool nonetheless.

if anyone has one around for an 85 i'd be interested in it.

The 83 manual should get you a long ways. Same procedures for most things such as cylinder head, engine block, transmission, suspension... however, I bet the electrical accessories and the ECU/engine management sensor instructions would be different though. For $60 Ebay is your freind:

Could you upload the 1983 wiring diagram?  I have the 85 diagram from the fsm posted on this site somewhere but it doesn't match the 83 wiring based on my experience.

Wow, what a steal!! I have the '85 Electrical PDF, PM me for your email so I can send it along. You should definitely scan that '83 FSM and electrical diagram. Get a scanning app for your smartphone and do it that way, it's faster and converts the final file to PDF. :)

Yeah they're about an hour and a half away from me now, but whenever I go to pick them up from my friend I'll look into photocopying the wiring diags

Yeah I stopped by my campus library, and they don't have anything that can scan it, they also probably couldn't print off a whole FSM (definitely not getting my 20,000$ worth) so im going to stop by my local library to see if they can some time this week.

If not ill just print it off a little at a time  :heh:

Send it over to me, I'll get it scanned in real quick. :) And that's funny, my school just changed its printing policy to limit students to 250 pages per semester. Thankfully I printed my FSM (400+ pages) way before that change. Got my $23,000/year worth. :heh:

Got it! Hahah, yeah, definitely. And thankfully that was also before they started tracking the printing via a web client, instead of allowing direct wireless printing from your laptop. It's probably what prompted them to enforce the new policy :disgust:

Yep, he didn't give an actual limit but just told me he definitely can't do that  :heh:. I'll be busy all this week, but maybe this weekend I'll look into scanning those a bit more, if not I'll have to take you up on that offer eh

I'll keep you guys updated if I figure anything out.

I'm not sure if economics would line up, ie cost of printing vs cost of shipping, but I have a couple high-capacity laser printers here. Unfortunately none of them are automatic duplexing, but that can be worked around.

yeah I appreciate the offer, if I don't find a place that can scan the old and print the new then I'll send a few messages and maybe we can figure it out.

looking at how much an 85 fsm costs made me realize how much of a steal these were
