Thanks for the suggestion! Considering where things are at with my wiring (which I will post about later on), and how close the engine is to starting, I don't think any valves are stuck. It sounds like it's breathing, timed well and trying to fire up. Just need the LS400 ignition main relay and (possibly) new ignitors.

Update: The LS400 ignition main relay and ignitors made no difference. I've ordered a handheld oscilloscope to check the pulse train output of the cam and crank angle sensors, since an ohm check tells me nothing on how well the sensor works.

The scope finally came in! And what I found will shock you.

Pinning directly into the ECU plug and cranking the engine revealed the first clue.

NE+ NE- (crank sensor) - no signal
G1+ G- (cam sensor #1) - no signal
G2+ G- (cam sensor #2) - visible pulse train!

Before thinking any sensors were actually bad, I connected directly into the sensors themselves.

This test revealed that all the sensors were outputting a pulse during crank!

Being that all the sensors were actually good, but not all signals making it to the ECU, means that I made some kind of blunder in my front crank harness repairs. I'll have to double check the pinout or maybe replace these connectors. I'm hoping I don't have to pull apart the front of the engine to remove the front engine wire harness...

I also added a nice little piece from Venom Automotive in the land down under- a billet thermostat neck! Never again will you have to replace the brittle plastic housings when they are heat aged. For around 100 dollarydoos, this is totally worth adding to your build.

Do you happen to have the dimensions on this thermostat neck? I have a GM 5.3L thermostat neck that looks like it might fit. once I get the 1uz out of this ls400 I will line it up and see if will work.

So that’s a negative. The bolts are offset from center on the engine and centered on the thermostat outlet housing. Hoping I could save save money here.

I don't have the dimensions to hand, but it looks as though that thermostat neck won't aim in the correct direction when mounted.

i think the orientation would work, but this is the problem.

Did you happen to consider/measure mounting the swaybar ends below the front control-arms vs above?

Well, I do now!!

I finally got her running today!!! I mixed up cam sensor wires and forgot to plug in the 12V power to the coils and injectors. She fired right up after hooking those up. I'm incredibly happy and can't wait to get this build wrapped up. Still much to do.

No, I didn't think mounting them underneath would work. You mounted yours above though, right?

Yep, found those shorter end-links and mounted them above (still haven't driven the car yet though - like you said, so much to do!)

Update time... and it's not a fun one.

My wrenching time started with a peek at my remaining items list.

Let's start with the GOOD stuff; got the wiring under the dash all cleaned up and terminated in some quality Deutsch-style connectors! All I need to add now are the shielded secondary O2 sensor wires, and find a good place to route them through the floor. So I turned this spaghetti:

...into this!

This is what connects all the 1UZ engine-side wiring harness signals to the RA64 body harness.

Ahh, sure looks good in there.

Also threw the hood on to check for clearance to the intake manifold. Let me tell you, it's only single-layer-piece-of-cardboard-thick amounts of clearance! But thankfully those polyurethane pucks will keep the motor steadily held in place. :)

I wanted to start getting the little things buttoned up, bleed the brakes and clutch and such; but the moment I went in to bleed the clutch... this happened.

Yep, that's the T56 throwout bearing leaking INSIDE THE BELLHOUSING. The bleeder fitting leaked as well. I went back to my old videos and the XAT Racing instructions to see what it was that I was possibly missing. I thought perhaps I forgot the crush washer for the bleeder output fitting on the slave cyl housing:

I was also missing a fitting on the bleeder side. That was at least an easy fix.

...so I put some time aside to drop the transmission and see what was really going on. I recruited silverliftback's help (with the enticing offer of a homecooked dinner, of course) and we dropped the B in 3 hours, 45 minutes. We had to remove the upper and lower intake manifolds, shifter, exhaust and driveshaft to achieve this.

Now we can finally get a look-see at that TOB!

O-oh. Oh. OH. OH NO.  O H  N O. THAT is the inlet quick-connect fitting leaking through the split pin!!

I removed the lines and pulled the TOB out. This is what I found...

I was taken aback at this development. I had no idea how this possibly could have occured. Was the part bad when I received it? Was the fitting being bent from install??? No way.

I made sure the bent fitting knew I was very disappointed.

I made contact with XAT Racing, and after inspecting my setup, said the lines should have a straight shot out of the bellhousing and that I should bore the holes out some more, as that could contribute to the fitting being forcefully bent after torqueing the lines down and installing the transmission. So I ordered new fittings, put a crush washer on the bleeder output fitting, and will get to that clearancing operation soon.

I will get this thing on the road before the end of this year gosh darnit!!
