Which Toyota OEM oil filter?
« on: Aug 24, 2020, 11:52:27 pm »
I've been using a Toyota 90915-YZZD1 oil filter for at least the last few years as I buy 3 or 4 at a time and change it every year, not positive which Toyota filter before that, didn't keep my receipts. About to run out and asked the Toyota parts guy to check if that's the right one for an 83 GT-S 22R-E engine. He said his software didn't show which one to use, would call Toyota, and get back to me, never did. I checked a couple websites and some are showing Toyota 90915-YZZG2, for example https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem-toyota-celica-oil_filter.html , while others are showing 90915-YZZD1, for example www.yotashop.com If you're using a Toyota filter for your 22R-E, which one? Maybe either one works?

I've always used Toyota oil filters, and I just looked at a receipt I found, and the local dealership here has always given me 90915-YZZD1.
SELECT celica FROM toyota WHERE year<=1985;

1985 GT-S
-Rebuilt engine: bored .020 over, oversize valves, new cam
-Thorley header w/heated O2 sensor at collector & all new exhaust
-Impact6 strut bar
-3.9LSD rearend, which is now slipping
-Lots of bodywork and new paint!
-New cd player to cover up all those squeaks and rattles
-JK short-throw shifter

Thanks Dan, that kind of confirms the 90915-YZZD1. You would think a Toyota dealership could tell you that.  :mad:

Mine did. But I've been buying them for so long when I go in there they ask "How many oil filters do you need?"  :heh:
