Rear GTS Brake Parts availability.
« on: Aug 27, 2020, 06:14:13 am »
Well folks, Im having a dilema. I cannot find new brake calipers for the rear of my 84 GTS. Online, parts stores etc. Does anyone know where to find new ones? Or perhaps its time to find  a suitable replacement option? I'd love to swap to a more beefy, easier to source caliper. Any advice would be great

Have you seen the reman ones on Rockauto? I'm not sure if they're GTS or Supra.

EDIT: That's annoying, it looks like they have 4 different listings for rear left calipers and no rear rights.

I just came here to post that exact same thing.  :heh:

That really does suck though. Of all the things I thought I might have to park the car indefinitely for I never imagined it was brake parts...

Have you tried a local parts store?

I did a little searching and found rear lefts and rights on Oreilly's, but again, I'm not sure if they're Celica or Supra. It may be that Celica and Supra are the same, and I'm confusing them with MK1 Supra.

I probably should have started off by saying that Ive checked all the parts stores around me, autozone, napa, oreilys. No luck. Also no luck on the interwebs. Rockauto etc. Probably gonna finish looking into the z32 rear brake caliper upgrade

The issue is (mostly) no longer! I got a call from my friend at oreilys. They finally got remans in stock. I just got both fronts, the passenger rear and a new master cyllinder. Apparently due to covid 19 the rebuilding companys focused on more "average" parts. Still having issues finding a driver rear though. But on the bright side it appears parts will be availble for a while longer.

Man, that's good news. I finally took the entire rear brake system apart and found warped rear rotors and a sticking right rear caliper. I guess I'll see if the local parts place can order one, as RockAuto still doesn't list any.

Should be able to get the rest of it from RockAuto tho.
