Hello, new to the forum 85 GT-S Convertible
« on: Feb 24, 2021, 05:38:38 pm »
Hello all,
My dad passed a couple years ago and now our family is trying to decide what to do with his '85 GT-S convertible 5spd located in San Luis Obispo, CA. So I signed up to browse, get info and do a little research.

If anyone has any insight in the best way to determine "asking price" it would be greatly appreciated. Essentially we are just looking for a starting point on what to ask for a "project" car that's just sitting there.

My grandfather bought the car new in 85. My father inherited it in 87 when my grandfather passed. He took great care of it from 87 to probably 2005, but then dementia took over.
Sadly it's been sitting un-garaged since then and although it was covered for many of those years, it's in pretty rough shape and not currently running.
It has roughly 153K miles (to be confirmed when I go down there this weekend). It will start and run if jumped. Last time I started it was prob 2 years ago, last time it was driven was 5-7 years ago.
All the seals around the windows are not in great shape.

I plan to take photos this weekend and hopefully post to the classifieds and see if there is any interest at all.

Until then, I'll keep researching.
Thanks, cheers,
Bill

Hello and welcome!! Hopefully some of the previous For Sale posts in the forum for 'verts can give you some idea of a good asking price. Values are slowly going up, but you might have to drop the asking price with the condition and mileage in mind. Whether or not you have the parade boots can also drive the price.
