Even slower build progression of my 1985 liftback
« on: Mar 17, 2021, 02:29:52 am »
So I've had this car since high school, it was my first project, and really, the first car I bought on my own. The 2nd owner let it sit unregistered since 2006, I bought it in roughly 2016, and actually got it running and driving in 2020. Most of that time was spent in college and moving. It was, unfortunately for it, my test bed for learning how to work on cars for alot of that time.

This car and my s14 240sx (build thread in off topic) are being built in tandem, this being the more simple of the two. I have a lot of plans for this car, but none if it will come very consistently after the initial progress dump. I hope to be able to do alot more to this soon  :)

had car towed to where i live in may of 2020, about a month later i started to pull it apart. in 2019 i bought an engine out of an early to mid 90s pickup with supposedly 110k miles, timing guides were shot and wore into the timing cover, i had most of the stuff ready to refresh as much as i could without pulling apart the block. i reused the original head since i had it resealed and resurfaced at a local machine shop, the only real internal upgrade i did was arp head studs.

new wheels!
Rays volk racing mesh 14x6.5 +15
SSR XR-4 Longchamp 14x7.5 -7
currently waiting on the longchamps to arrive
need to buy tires, as the ones i have currently were some that i was given by a friend that was swapping them out, but currently have 195/70r14, will eventually buy 185/60r14 when i  pull the trigger on suspension

I don't have any pictures, but I'm currently collecting s13 front suspension for an eventual swap, still have to get custom front coilovers from bc, and im going to contact techno toy tuning to see if they can build a shortened s13 adjustable contol arm to lessen the excessive camber that comes with the stock control arms.

Looks good!! Those 14s do have their allure despite the lack of tire options.

Btw, you can use Imgur to host your photos and paste the BBcode link of the photo to your post. Make sure to use the Large size. DM if you have any questions. :)
