Continuously popping the “tail” fuse
« on: Sep 11, 2021, 01:53:57 pm »
I have recently acquired a 1983 gts, and I absolutely love it, however she has now decided to give me some issues.

Everything pretty much worked on the car when I bought it (power antenna doesn’t work, mirrors are being mirrors lol).  But then all of my dash lights when out, then noticed none of my parking lights were working either.  My headlights, and my turn signals still work but I haven’t checked my brake lights to see if they work.

So I found me “tail” fuse, which was blown, replaced it, blew that one immediately.  I have disconnected all of the exterior lights from the body harness and eliminated the short being near the lights, and I’ve also checked for wire damage from the hatch area up to the b pillar and the fuse box to the front lights.  I’ve also now disconnected the cruise and rear wiper switches and eliminated those as the short.

So, before I blindly tear my dash out hoping to find something, are there any common areas that these harnesses might run through and short out?  Or any other common issue that I could look into that might cause this?  I’ve been trying to use the search feature, but with no luck.

THANKS!

(Pics just because lol)

Figured it out.  It was from the poorly wired aftermarket radio.  I’ll end up redoing it when I replace the radio that isn’t such an ugly POS lol.
