Where to find new or used oem parts in Canada?
« on: Feb 28, 2022, 12:15:29 am »
For starters, forgive me if I'm extremely uneducated on these cars - I recently picked up a 1984 celica gts hatch back, and I've been having a hell of a time finding any parts online or locally for the car.

I'm not entirely surprised considering these cars are VERY hard to find north of the border. Long story short I'm in need of some odds and ends like an 22re oil pan and oem side skirts to clean my car up a bit but I can't seem to find any online. Any websites, forums etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

I most definitely recommend Rockauto for th majority of things, though some stuff will be harder to come across than others. i too need an oil pan and am resigning to the fact that ill have to just beat mine back out with a hammer lol. other than that, its mostly gonna be finding partouts and such id say. i managed to find a partout in hungary of all places to replace the gutted interior for mine. possibly find an american based source to mail out parts would be another suggestion. good luck on finding parts and welcome to the  Dragon community.

I figured as much, rock auto has everything for the engine but an oil pan :heh: guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled on local classifieds

you may be able to use Pickup 22re oil pans or 4runner oil pans but those may be different, not terribly sure. i havent looked into it

I was wondering the same thing but I can't seem to find any solid info on if they're cross compatible or not  time to deep dive and compare parts numbers.  I'll post an update on my findings here or on a new thread

The sump position for the trucks will be different, as the pan needs to clear the front axle. 2wd trucks, not so sure. They might still be different due to crossmembers and such.

So you'll most likely have to find one from a Celica.

Also, there's lots of parts that are going obsolete for our cars. For the GTS, you better pray the rear wheel bearing are OK. They need a crush sleeve to reinstall and Toyota stopped making them. The rear right caliper is not available anywhere anymore either, and I just looked locally for rear brake lines for the GTS and they either had the inner or outers but not both.

These cars are getting harder to repair...

I made a write up in the engines section on the oil pan, so far from all the info I've been able to find (not much) the 2wd oil pans look identical in every way. 4wd is no go though.

As for the other stuff, brake calipers can always be rebuilt. Bearings not so much. Luckily mine are intact still  :heh:
