California Air Resources Board (CARB) website (
https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php) lists the Weber 32/36 as permitted for carbureted Celicas 1975-1983, thank the manufacturer for submitting it for testing and approval by CARB:
EO: D-133-2 View PDF
EO Date: 1985-03-11
Manufacturer Name: Redline, Inc.
Device: Weber
Device Type: Carburetor / Carburetor Modification
Part_Number: Model_Specification: Modification_Allowed: Remarks:
32/36 DGAV 33B1 1975-1977 Toyota Celica, Corona and 2WD & 4 WD P/U (Kit K8746) 1978-1980 Toyota Celica, Corona and 2WD & 4 WD P/U (Kit K8747)
32/36 DGEV 33B1 1981-1983 Toyota Celica, 1981-1984 Toyota 2 & 4 WD P/U (Kit K8749)
Note that it's the 32/36 DGEV (not DGAV) listed for your 1982 Celica. Online search for the kit ("Weber kit K8749") gives some hits right away, and I think a bit cheaper than LC. And all your other smog-related stuff will still have to be there too of course (cat converter? EGR?).
The 4x4 folks seem to think that there's very little difference between a Weber and a stock Toyota/Aisin carb, there's just the difference when you replace an old broken-down carb with a brand new one.
