Sup from Seattle
« on: Jun 24, 2022, 08:29:33 am »
Hello, just got an 85 Celica GT, and these forums seem pretty much essential with how hard to find parts/info is for our cars! I got my celica because I needed a more economic car than my 99 jeep grand cherokee, and I've always liked the 3rd gen celica.

Forgot pics, the interior is after I spent ~6 hours cleaning it, it was naaaaaasty. But the rest of the car has almost no rust, just a couple small surface spots on the outside.

Welcome!

Yeah, some parts are super hard to find now. Used to see these cars all over the place. I'm still adjusting to people staring at the car when I'm driving as I always think something's falling of the car when that happens.  :heh:

There's all sorts of topics around this forum for repairs and mods. And it's easily searchable, unlike FaceBalls.

Nice looking GT, once good thing about the west (wet?) coast is that rust is not nearly as bad here as it is in other parts of the country.
SELECT celica FROM toyota WHERE year<=1985;

THE UNCRACKED DASH NIIICE!! your gt is what mine wishes it looked like, and yeah its absolutely gorgeous. thankfully yours looks near mint from the pictures, what a score! also i agree with the economy, i stopped driving my 97 4runner as my daily at 16mpg. keeping extra air in the tires, i can sail past 26-27 mpg if i baby it.

85 RA64 LB 5MT (T3 suspension bits coming soon! :D )
97 4Runner 2wd Auto (showing signs of rodknock..)

Thanks for the welcome, unfortunately there is one small crack on the dash towards the passenger side, but it is otherwise perfect!

I actually got it from eastern WA in a really desert-y area, and I think it was kept in a garage for most of it's life, at least that's the only way I can explain both the almost uncracked dash and virtually no rust

Thanks twotone_ra64 and BillyM! I bought one of your bushing kits off your site and shifting is so precise feeling now! I also put a cube short shifter on top of it, and that just exaggerates the crispness even more! Thank you for making and selling your kits!
