Bottom end durability?
« on: Jun 26, 2022, 05:52:28 am »
I just snagged a spare head off another 85 celica, which i will be building with a more aggressive cam (probably an LCE EFI Pro or even Stage 2 Cam), stiffer springs, and porting. im wondering if any of you recommend any bottom end upgrades, as from what i understand, all the bottlenecking these engines have is in the top end, i/e the head, and not much to do with the actual block or rotating assembly. I will however be buying an oil scraper for the crank to not slosh oil as much

Do a compression test and a leak down test if you can swing it, that'll tell you how healthy the bottom end is.

old comp numbers are still written on the hood, at 140 140 160 160 through 1234. can definitely use a more recent one with all the miles ive been putting on it, and those numbers could be from the old engine as when i bought my car, the VC had junkyard marking on it. Thanks Teran
