Blatant Vote Request for FB Car Contest
« on: Jul 14, 2022, 05:22:38 am »
Ok, l have been quiet for a reason.  I seriously crashed my Toy Snake '80 Celica Fastback with the 32 Valve Cobra drivetrain.  Fortunately, no serious injuries. In the meantime, I acquired another hobby car, a '68 Corvette.  I still have the Celica, but it is about a foot shorter than the original version.

I've entered a FB contest for Like votes to win a chance to get seat time in a NASCAR racecar on an actual NASCAR track.  So, deadline is tomorrow 7/14 and I would appreciate any support on like votes.

Link is https://www.facebook.com/media/set?vanity=SilverSportTransmissions&set=a.3160232087524919 . Go to Entry #20 and vote for me if like my new project and know my love for the RA42 Frankenstein I created.

I put a like on it, black vette newer vette wheels. you should post a couple pictures in this thread of it. I'm not a big vette guy but it actually looks pretty cool.

Are you going to get another celica? could be cool to also stick the drivetran in something else toyota that is easier to find.

Thanks for the like Sirdan!  It was worth a try entering for the NASCAR Experience prize.

I'm not really a Vette guy either, but when I saw it in person and learned it was born a tri power 427 and had 62k on the odo and was the original owner, I was sold.  It kind of has the same mild custom treatment that the Celica had. Plus, I bought it with the insurance settlement money so it was like I traded the Celica for a Vette.

I'll need to open a Imgur account and post some pics.

I looked for over a year for another RA42.  I still have a clear title and the CARB engine change certification, so I could technically rebuild it using donor parts.  It was a PITA trying to get it to pass smog due to engine mods I made.  So, the Vette is exempt from smog and I don't have that problem anymore and I will part out the Celi stuff like the front coilover struts, the bolt in V8 crossmember, the Porsche manual rack, the MA45 posi rear axle...etc. I'm planning to swap over the T56 Tremec 6 spd to the Vette which is a 4 spd now.  Not sure what I'll do with the 5.0 punched out Cobra Mod motor.

Here's the Vette

Isn't it freakishly similar to the Cobra Celica in paint, mods and big wheels?  That's what made me buy it.
