Suspension Work! T3 Goodies.
« on: Nov 29, 2022, 08:29:49 am »
Alright so i finally bit the bullet, and have ordered the t3 catalog on lowering my car. (camber plates, panhard, weld on coil kit, and ordering more soon)
I wanted a little bit of input before i settle on springrates, and rear setup. im at a crossroads between running cut foxbody rear coils or going with the attractive swift spring rears. this is my first time delving into full on modification with the car and dont wanna drive a stiff gokart, but want to be able to tackle HPD and autocross well. Im mainly focusing on following twotones Koni x t3 writeup for my guide through this, though i also plan to fully document on video the process for Youtube purposes. Any other input on what to check, and what to replace is also greatly appreciated.

Other thing to add, is that ill be going with a mixture of Poly bushes in spots, and new rubber bushes in others, since after looking under the car last, i no longer have tension rod bushes or LCA bushes left  :heh:
Would adding adjustable 4 links be something to consider, since lowering the car would affect pinion angle as well? Ive heard this mentioned once or twice in the 86 forums.

I dont plan to lower the car iam restoring bit will want to replaceall brushings and possibly the rear sway bar. It was hard to find bushings when i redid the cab. I think using poly bushings and a stiffer sway bar would improve handling.

Exciting! Are you going to post pictures of the progress? I am doing a similar route for my GTS too. I really need to update my thread on the progress that has been made over the past few months lmao

I realize making youtube videos is a lot harder than i thought, and cali weater hasnt quite permitted me to go out with the camera yet. suffice to say, its a completely different car in the turns. it will still break loose in the rear if you goose the throttle a little but its great. part of that issue is i have terrible 400+ TW tires that cant hold worth a damn for traction when driven hard. i will be doing a detailed description of all done though in the near future, since im still needing to do the 4 link bushings, and sway bar bushings front and rear.
