Differential Question
« on: Sep 05, 2003, 05:47:56 pm »
My AE86 has the stock LSD and my celica doesnt have LSD. I've had people tell me that the AE86 LSD is a direct swap... but i dont think it is. Its a whole different rear end and i think the axels might be different diamiter. If anyone knows tell me. Also, besides from a supra, where could i get a LSD? do they sell LSD's new for the RA64?

My best guess would be to call up LC engineering and see if they can help you.... i dont know, but the GT might have the same rear end they used in the trucks, and i know they sell truck LSDs

The AE86 Corolla uses a 6.7" rear end but its axles are of a
different diameter, length, and have a different spline count.

http://www.reiderracing.com/pgpowerbrute.htm

Go there and scroll down, they have a PG Power Brute LSD for the 6.7" rear end.

I know that LC engineering has several options for rear ends, the problem is they don't specify an exact application. My buddy has the detroit locker (for a chevy though), and he says it works great, but sometimes the inside wheel may "bark" when turning into a corner too fast. Supposedly it is one of the best things on the market to turn your "one legger into a two legger"

Bridge check this link  http://www.solidlight.it/toyota/tech_gearbox.htm  The hilux is the regular Toyota pick up. According to them, an LSD is available for that rear end.  I have also heard of people using the rear end out of the Toyota mini van. The first ones that is

The rear *looks* like the same unit I had in my 78 HiLux, good stout rear end with a Detriot (I think).

As for the rear axel thing... measure and if it looks good, swap the whole plasted thing :)  Housing, axles, center section... and especially the 4wh disk brakes!!
