I have had several emails with a fellow 3rd gen owner who know his stuff.

If anyone wants, I could search through my emails and pull some of his out...I printed em all out to keep in my car for some reading material.  :D

Currently he is running a 1G-GTE

Bring it on.
You asked for it

--------------------------------------

This was not written by me!!!!
Written by Seto Kaiba

"As for modifications I would make sure everything is in good condition stock
before you modify. Make sure all the suspension bushings are good and if
they are not that is a good excuse to install the Energy Suspension bushing
kit as it will help eliminate deflection in the chassis. My car had worn
bushings in the rear control arms and I would get massive wheel hop when the
tires lost traction whether I was drag racing or drifting. But after
everything is in good working order I would get the items they are starting
to discontinue first as that will save you a lot of headaches down the road."

"The thing I would get first are struts and shocks as they are being discontinued and are running low in peoples inventory. Koni adjustables, Tokico Illuminas, and a few others are going away and are the best you can get. I have the Tokico Premium Performance struts and shocks as they are really stiff but aren't
adjustable. They are relatively cheap though at around $60 front and $35
rear compared to the Adjustables running close to $70 front and $85 rear. I
have heard that some people were able to adapt AE86 Corolla struts and
shocks but haven't confirmed it myself. Also some people have used mid-80's
Camaro shocks in the rear. But when modifying I always start at the back and
work my way forward. Since you have a GT that means you have the 6.7" solid
rear axle. A popular upgrade and needed with a lot of power is a 7.5" Supra
rear end from a late 70's to around 1981 Supra. It can handle way more power
than the 6.7" as the spider gears on the 6.7 are very prone to breakage. You
should start with suspension and brakes first as with the added power from
the 1GGTE it will over power the suspension and since you will be able to
attain higher speeds faster you will eventually need to slow down. I would
recommend a good adjustable strut/shock or if you want something stiff and
cheap use the Tokico's I use. Then get some Eiback springs, or better yet
get the Ground Control front coil-over kit and some custom rear springs
(call 785-437-2266 for custom rear springs). My setup is the Tokico Premium
Perf with Ground Control coil-overs and custom rears that have about 75%
stiffer spring rates than stock."

---------------------------------------

There is much more(I have to look  ), but this should be enough for now.

Enjoy the read!

Here's some more from Seto Kaiba

"Suspension is a good idea as a lot of those parts are being discontinued anyway. The Illumina's are a good strut/shock. I had Koni's on my car and always ran them at the stiffest setting. Eventually I sold them and got the Tokico Premium Performance and they are stiffer than the stiffest setting on the Koni's. I prefer a stiff ride that will knock the fillings out of your mouth when going over bumps.
That is not good for quarter mile times as weight transfer to the rear is
minimal but once you hit some corners you can drift with confidence if that
is your thing. The car remains flat throughout the entire corner even when
grip driving with sticky Hoosier slicks. Anyway the only bad thing about the
Illumina's are there lack of availability. They have been discontinued
longer than the Koni's so aren't as easy to get. But if you have a source
then by all means pick them up, you won't be dissappointed even if you hold
onto the stock springs for a while."

"For your suspension that is about the right price for the Illumina's. They
could ask for more so I would grab them soon as they are discontinued.
Ground Control coil-over's are also a wise investment as you can choose
whichever spring rate you want. The only thing I don't like was the fact
that the ones I got were progressive instead of linear springs. But since
you want a streetable ride progressive springs would be better for you as
they don't really feel stiff until you push the car."
Most of my suspension work is based off of what the Hachi-Roku guys use as our
suspensions are very similar. The only difference is our car weighes a few
hundred pounds more so unless you have lightened your car like I have you
will need slightly stiifer springs than they do. The limit of a daily driven
weekend racer car's spring rate is generally agreed to be at 6.0 kg/mm front
and around 4.7 kg/mm rear. This is still pretty stiff over stock but you
will keep all your fillings and the passengers won't complain too much. My
car is closer to 8.0 kg/mm front and 6.5 kg/mm rear and I wouldn't recommend
that set-up for the street unless you want your car to rattle bad and your
kidneys to hurt. There are a few bolts I have to retighten every now and
then as they slowly work themselves loose. But I just got some lock-tite the
other day so from now on I hope to eliminate them from coming loose. A stiff
suspension and a lightly padded fiberglass seat doesn't make for a
comfortable ride. My rear shocks are the Tokico Premium Performance which
are really stiff. My ride height is about 2-1.75" lower than stock depending
on how low I drop the coil-overs."

Enjoy  :D
