just turned 24. Got my 84 celica GT in 1996 for $1700 with 144,000mi. Cracked the block and threw a rod on thanksgiving day 1999 with 174,655 mi (couldn't even manually crank the thing  ) Then i got my hands on a 1994 MX 6 LS (v6) with 31,000 mi.  B) and drove that as "Toyzilla" slept. Got my celica running in may this year with a different rebuilt motor and lot's of goddies from LC engineering and other places.  :D

My name is Sean. My parents bought my car in january or '84. I acutuall picked it out for my mom from the showroom floor. My father was buying her a celica for her birthday. The funny thing is that I don't really remember my mother driving the car much, just my father constantly washing and waxing the thing. The car is a 1984 celica gt hatchback terra cotta ext. originally red interior with black dash and mouldings. They actually called it the "Black Package" Right now the car has grey seats out of a supra and a grey carpet from automotive custom carpets. Yhe car is a five speed with a little over 110,000 miles on it. I just put a rebuilt motor in the car today. I'm 24 years old and have been driving the car for about seven years now. I have owned three other cars since getting my celica, but the celica is the one that always gets to stay in the garage and not have to get driven when it nasty out. I baby the shit out of this car. I have loved this car since the day I saw it in the showroom at the dealer and feel that I'm really lucky to have not only had it as my first car, but actually still have it. The other thing is the condition in which my father kept the car and the things he taught me about maintaining the overall original condition of it. I feel really lucky to own this car. BY the way, everyone I know says that I am completely anal with this car. I tell them that if they aren't anal with their cars they won't be around for 20 years. People again say that I am anal. I really don't care.

Well, I'm 20, hitting 21 in Jan...   Had my 81 celica for a year I think.  Can't remember- Time and I don't get along very well.  He says one thing, I think another... It's just confusing.

Anywho, I read about the hatch problems and I think I know how to fix it-  I fixed mine, until it broke again...

When you pull the lever and the hatch disengages but the stupid thing only pulls up a tiny bit what is happening is the latch is sticking on the bar it clamps around because the bar is too close to the latch.  If you take off your rear molding and get to the bar the latch connects to, you will see the mounting bolts.  The holes that the mounting bolts go into are designed so you can adjust the depth and width of the anchor bar incase the latch doesn't line up or because after 20 years your latch has pulled the bar up too close and it doesn't disengage correctly(like mine).  So if you tinker around with that you should be able to fix your hatch problem.  Hope that helps!  BTW, use small corrections.  The tensions taking place is that mechanism tighten very quickly with minimal movement in any direction, so pay close attention to how far you moved it and whatnot- only too me an hour to do the whole thing and I had no idea what to look for.  Now you do so it shouldn't even take that long.

I'm 20, bought my 85 gt hatch in march, with 196,000km on the odometer, its in good shape, and I'm just working at rebuilding it, my last car was an 80 buick century wagon with 305 (5litre) chev engine in it, gotta love the rwd
there's a few 3rd gen's around here, most I see around town are kinda rusty, I work at a golf course, and 2 of the members there have 3rd gen's, one's an 85 gts he's had since new, that one currently has 245,000km+ on it, but looks beautiful, no visible rust, and he told me he's taken excellent care of it, and there's an 84 or 85 coupe, with some funky rims, they're weird, yet cool :P

I'm 17 (My name is Mark, or the Wong.)  The car has been in my family since 1985(It's a 1985 Toyota Celica GT).  Just a little surface rust underneath the liftback's key hole.  And there was a big fat hole in the driver's seat from my dad's constant sliding in to the car.  So I just switched my passenger seat with the driver seat, pretty easy but now all the levers are on the same side as the seat buckle.  No sweat.  The driver seat is sitting in my friends garage as a resting area.

im 21.. bought my car from a friend for $200 canadian about 7 months ago..
it wasn't running then.. my friend said it would over-heat and the engine wouldn't let the revs decrease after you accelerate....so i checked it out and there was a rad hose broken and the TB plate had lots of sludge and it would stick. so i used carb cleaner on the TB and replaced the hose.  now my friend wants to buy the car back for $1000.. no deal..
love this car too much

i liked the looks because my bro had a 5.0 and i like the flip up headlights after i used to own a 3g accord with them. i frequent www.3geez.com and there are some accords that the people took the headlight switch and made one go down like it was winking at girls   i dont know how they did it but it was funny watching it on video B)  I will def. keep this car because i realize how rare it will be in 20 more years that and it's by far my fav. car i've had so far....this and then my 80 2.3L stang.
