I havent personally raced an SI, but I will say this, if you have a stock Celica and beat an SI, tell the SI driver to take some lessons on driving. No way a stock Celica or even mildly modded, should beat a Civic SI.  My AA63 was faster than my RA65, and my AA couldnt beat the older B16A Civic Sir.  I am not doubting your win though, since I have noticed that alot of people believe they can drive good on a 1/4, and when they lose, blame the car. A bad carpenter blames his tool :)

Well, i never said i beat em in the straight line  ;) but all the Non Vtec SIs are easy to beat in a straight line, and the Vtec ones lose out in the twisties..

With the right mods, done correctly, the Celica can get into the 14s or mid 13s. Then after that speed costs money :)

You can get lighter internals, lexan windows, fiberglass body panels, dash, and interior, strip sound deadening material.  All you need is the $$$  :(

...also remove AC, power steering (if your strong,  :P ), switch to electric fan, move battery to back, lighter pulleys, racing seats (those GTS/Supra seats are heavy right?). With all this added up it would make a difference.

The US bumpers are heavier too, so since you are in the spending mood you could convert to JDM like the rice boys. Remove anything you dont need. As much carbon fiber and aluminum as possible.  The rear glass is very heavy, atleast 80% of the weight of the hatch, so that lexan mentioned above would come in handy. Every car looks good with a good set of rims, so you could go with the 9lb rims. Some drag radials.  Remove the tar under your carpet, and the tar on the under side of the body.

Who makes lexan windows? How much weight does taking the A/C and power steering save. Would'nt removing the power steering mean suckey handling? What is sound deadening material?

Sound deadening material helps reduce interior noise.

Try Pro Glass for custom lexan windows.

Removing the power steering will make it harder to steer at lower speeds, but at higher speeds it will make the steering feel alittle stiffer, than how it feels now. Dont see a reason for it to make handling suffer
