It was bad timing for these cars. They came out just before the 3rd generation was released.
The "Griffith Sunchaser" was not officially authorized by Toyota according to "Toyota Celica" by Brian Long. However the following site states it was
"Commissioned" by Toyota. Nevertheless, the fact that Toyota never informed the Griffith people about plans for a 3rd generation sort of left them hanging in the wind.
The Griffith Company had a limited warranty for the conversion, which complemented the Toyota warranty. However, they were separate warranties.
