What Can I Do To A 85 Celica Gt-s
« on: Sep 14, 2003, 12:50:22 am »
Well I recently switched over to a 85 celica gt-s, mainly due to the fact my 83 celica gt liftback died.(timing messed up in it)

I am looking to do some stuff to my 85 celica gt-s(its a coupe, rather of it been a liftback, but oh well).

I had to put my transmission from 83 celica in it, but thats pretty much the only thing I have done so far to it.  Well that and having to get the fuel tank flushed out, new fuel filter, pump.(This car was sitting up for 2 years, and sheesh what a lot of rust, but its all gone now from the gas tank atleast.  :D )

As far as I know everything else on it, is original.

I do have one problem though,  its not showing any oil pressure(I think the sending unit died.)

I'd like to do a little of both man.  Have just enough performance, and make it look good. :)

Everyone seems to have their own opinion about both. Personally I like the erubini body kit for styling. And the $2500 turbo kit for performance others like side louvers and an exhaust job It basically comes don to what you can afford.

Louvers that go on the rear side windows, personally im not a big fan, but oh well... as for exhaust, get a 2.5 inch cat back, high flow cat, and a header and you're golden there, intake needs an open element filter, there is another thread all about it.. since you have a GTS you're golden on wheels, check out the various suspention threads for that, as i dont know much about suspention. if you really wanna get more power you will need to port and polish the head, as well as a bigger cam and bigger valves. exhaust alone is probably worth 15-20 HP, open element filter will give you more high end power, and better flowing head gives you more power all around. the hatch from a supra gives you a good looking spoiler, and a paint job never hurts...

ah oh ok thats what it is, that thing on the rear window...  I don't think I'd be able to use that because I have a coupe.   I don't think those would look right on a coupe.

The only thing you really cant do on a coupe is louvers (there are louvers for em, but i think they are ugly on coupe..) everything else is possible.

Coupes aren't bad almost every mod for the hatch can be done for the coupe.

Something small, like a thin airfoil... not some big huge thing that weighs 100lbs... as for the luggage rack, im not sure on the coupe, but you will probably need to find a way to fill the holes left by the screws that hold it on... (bondo and fibreglass to back it up)
