The thing I like about the Celica GTS is that it looks good as it comes from the dealership. Just add some tint and performance. Guess I am getting too old. The rims the car came with, the shape of the car, etc just envokes emotions. Reminds me of cars like the 70 Mustang, 57 T-bird, 70 'cuda, 69 Camaro, 72 240Z  cars that when you look at them you feel the emotion

First off, welcome to the forum...It's nice to see more people coming in.

IMO I think these Celicas look good with absolutly no body mods.  The only thing I would suggest is a nice paint job and some nice wheels (the wheels make the car :D )  with the right offset.

Anyways, I'd start off with I/H/E.  Most members replace their stock sir box with an open element air filter.  All you need is a conical filter and an AFM adapter.  ou can get both these from www.toysport.com or www.cyberauto.com For around $60.00.  For headers, There is not a big selection, from what I know there are Thorley and Pacesetter...I have heard nothing but good things about DT headers, but the exact opposite for Pacesetter.  Toysport is in the process of making headers for the 22-RE using the DT design (hopefull be done in a few weeks)  For exhaust, I plan on getting 2.25 in exhaust piping made from my local muffler shop, a high flow cat, and maybe a N1 style muffler.

From there, I would do suspension.  Bushings(if worn), new struts, shocks, and springs.  Companies like Tokico and Koni make struts for our cars.  You can get some F coilovers (sleeve type) from GC.  Springs are up to you.

Sorry this is getting so long, it would be a &$#*% if I wasn't posting in the right thread  :P

Just have fun  :D

I think I got screwed on my panda paint job...

The black 85 GT coupe you guys are talking about its mine, getting the wing was a pain, cause i did not know if its was going to look good but i knew i wanted one, this is the smallest adjustable i could find, and about the body kit you cant find this style no more(only the front air dam at classic garage) its a FREEDOM DESIGN kit and its NOT box like,if u really want a box kind kit look at kanimari or the other guys now thats a box.this company even included wind testing tunnel results from this kit compare to the other guys, now they only make kits for BMW,MERCEDES and other cars.http://www.electrodyne.cc/ .but any way we all have diferent tastes and im only triying to make my car look good with out going all out rice on it.luis 85blackGT.

I have always liked your car,  Just not the wing.  :P I like wings that flow off the trunk, nothing with high mounts.

Yes I do have a gt-s, but I had to take my tires off of my 83 celica and put it on the 85.(Damn car had some cracked rims..., appearantly the person that had it before me,  he hit two curbs and cracked the two rims on it...)

First things first, go to your Toyota Dealership and buy a Toyota Repair Manual for your car. If they tell you No Go to differnet dealership,  Toyota  does still sale the the repair manual for our cars no matter what they tell thye're being lazy. I bought mine  about a year ago no problem, but the service like me.
You can do anything to it that you like it just take time.  I seen a Celica with  4X4 truck frame under it, no lie.
Do a complete tune up, but only after your have the repair manual, there is a special way you set the timing on the 85 Celica that is differnet from most cars, so you will need the rapir manual. If you have the money buy the hanyes and chilton to. All three books have there mistakes and problems.
The 22re engine is a very good engine no problem change oil every 3000miles and timing chain every 150Kmiles and your good for 300Kmiles+.
