7th Gen Celica
« on: Sep 14, 2003, 02:10:58 am »
Lately when ive been driving around, the only people i see driving 7th gen celicas are chicks..... usually hot chicks, but chicks none the less... could it be that the celica is going the way of the ford mustang and turning into a chick car?  :o

Dont think anyone really takes the car serious. I think the 6th was marketed as one so maybe those people are now buying new cars and are turning to the Celica so as to get away from the whole Civic thing

See that s the problem. Toyota doesnt really have a car that stands out too much. The Celica is a good looking car, but that engine they have in it, leaves alot to be desired. They could have stuck with the 3SGE with the VVti thats in the Caldina. Not even begging for the turbo as yet, just give it some balls. Plus where the hell is the Supra?

Yea, toyota has turned into a company that makes family cars now... for the most part... the celica would be much better with RWD, and a 3S-GTE would make it compare with a supra if they kept it light enough.. while the current celica GTS has 180 hp, its only got 130 lbs of tourque, and it doesnt make any of that until 5000+ rpm.. our celicas make all the tourque down low where it counts.

another HUGE problem with the celica is the freaking price tag! maybe they should get a cheaper motor that producues the same power. thats not hard to do!

They could use the Altezza chassis, give it a 5 speed and the lower powered 3SGE about 210hp, use a few short cuts and make an economical Celica. Back to the roots.  What is going to happen if Nissan brings back the 240SX? A good reliable RWD car is needed. No need for an All trac yet. Bring that out the next year  ;)

Yea, most people arent willing to spend that much, when they can spend a couple thousand more and get a WRX that will pants a celica no problem.. if they took out the VVT-I and just got a 3S-GE or something similar it would make it cheaper...

I heard 2005. i hope they dont ruin the look like nissan did with the 350Z and the R35 when it comes out... a lot of the new concept cars and even new cars being produced look like ass..

Edit: A car they need to bring over here is the altezza....

Oh I think the G35 looks good, to me the best looking new car out there. Wish I could pimp one right now :)  I heard 2005 for the Supra too.  I dont think the Altezza would do good here. Not for the market its in. Not enough power. It really needs the 2JZ since it is marketed with the BMW 3 series.

Same car as the G35, but I do agree it is too much of a drastic change from the old Skyline.
