Celica-GTS Rules?
« on: Sep 15, 2003, 08:29:36 pm »
I have been reading posts on one of the other sites, and find it very distasteful the amount of indecent language that is used on posts. Fortunately, being a small group, we havent had much of it here. However, our forum is growing, and at this time Steve seems to be busy handling other affairs. So I think we should take steps to ensure that the club grows in a tasteful manner. Please post your suggestions

Once again, thank you Steve for giving us a place to meet to talk about our favorite car.

I think as long as very other word isnt a %#!& or a shit, then its alright... as long as the words are used to express strong feelings then i dont see a problem with it... as far as flaming, i hate flaming. takes up way too much time, bandwidth, and forum space.... if you have an opinion on something, state it in a well worded manner, not just going in and saying OMG!!!!  J00 ARE A L4ME A$$ NOOBLAR WHO KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CARS AND I KNOW MORE THAN YOU AND YOU ARE RETARDED OMG!!!!!! >_> errrr, </AOLism>

Yea, thats what i think.

Heh, after posting this i see that the F word is already censored... so please dont try and go around that censoring, its there for a reason.

I think Steven should just add words to the filter he thinks are bad. somtimes i think its alright to use bad words.. but i hate it when people cant stop useing them.

I think we just need to act our ages and be smart with our language.

Other than I dont like to see the constant use, we as adults, also have a responsibilty to the younger viewers, whether members or guests.

I am a firm believer that people should speak their mind. And I really hate censorship... To the extent of intelligent discussion and debate. The only things I really wont accept is flames and out right conflict.

There are two or three words to the filter that I didn't want to see regularly on the forums. And I'll leave it at that untill I see a need for more. I expect we'll need a thousand members before any such issues to crop up.

A few people have allready asked about mods, and I am still toying around with the idea. But if we do add moderators it will not be via vote this time. Sorry :)

I was referring to the F U words and other strong language. Damn and stuff like that are mild. Just made the post because noticed on the other forum that this person had 5 expletives in the post and another in his signature.

So didnt have a problem anyone on this forum

I agree with Steven.    I also hate censorship.     I can not stand it when ppl get so up tight and go off on other ppl becasue they did not agree with what they  said. I beleive ppl have the right to say what ever they want, but when they bash/flame and verbally destory another person out of hate, misunderstanding or disrespect.
If ppl use cruse word here when they mad(about something not someone) or our excited about some thing then it is fine.

Now swear all the time at work or in the car, but never do I get in front of ppl in thier faces and tell them to go to Hell. I'm not  like that, mostly.
What gets to me are idiots, at work or on the road. I think there should be a test to tell weather your going to be a idiot of not at childbrith, if you fail the test...

What about porn and such types of pics. I know some forums allow such stuff to be posted in "off Topic". I believe it is up to the person to decide weather or not that type of material is for them, but this is a public forum and we will/do  have underage persons here and we all know how parents can react if they see there sons/daughters looking at siad material. I think this is up to Steven sence this is His forum, but  we should all know rules govering off topic posts here.
That my .02

There is a time and place for it. It is can be overused or it can be used to express the person's feelings more. Now if we get someone on here that can no distinguish between the proper amount and over-doing it, then "rules" should be set. But as it stands now we are all good with choosing our words.
1985 Celipra GT-S (driven by Chris):
